Plastic Surgery Injections

botox injection

Injectables are among the most sought-after plastic surgery procedures performed. They are used to soften creases, plump lips, fill in hollow areas of the face, remove lines and restore a youthful glow. Perfect for 20- to 70-year old patients, these products are generally affordable, easy to administer and long-lasting.

While injectables cannot substitute for correction of loose or sagging skin, these products are often an important part of a comprehensive anti-aging plan. Conveniently, most injectables are non-surgical and may be combined with other injectables to achieve the best results.

Botox Cosmetic

Botox is largely considered the most influential modern treatment in plastic surgery. Often used in “lunchtime” or “Nefertiti” lifts, Botox is used to treat wrinkles on the face through a series of small injections that deliver a powerful but temporary medicine into small muscles to limit their movement. Although results vary across users, Botox is an extremely low-risk procedure. Dr. Bortnick and the staff at Bortnick Plastic Surgery and Dermatology and Skin Cancer Centers have extensive experience with Botox.

Choosing an Injectable

Depending on your unique facial structure, concerns and needs, different injectables will be ideal for achieving your desired results.

Botox or Disport are most often used to correct mimetic wrinkles, or wrinkles caused by movement of facial muscles over time. Meanwhile, lasers or chemical peels treat textural changes, pigment changes and non-mimetic wrinkles resulting from natural aging. Longer-lasting fillers such as Juvederm Voluma and Sculptra are used to restore a youthful balance and shape to the mid face, while Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus and Juvederm Volbella and other hyaluronic fillers help correct hollow smile lines, address under-the-eye deformities and plump the lips.

How are injectable procedures performed?

Injectable treatment is one of the quickest and most painless procedures for our patients. Often, these procedures can be performed in our office following your consultation.

First, the practitioner will numb the skin around the mouth and nose 10 to 15 minutes prior to injection. The practitioner will determine where and how to inject the product depending on the patient’s individual needs. After the skin is numb, the practitioner will remove all makeup from the patient’s skin and take medical photographs for our records. Then, they will perform the injection.

The entire procedure usually takes just a few minutes. Afterward, patients may apply a cold compress to the face. The practitioner will give instructions on massaging the injection site and scheduling follow-up appointments or treatments, as necessary.

Patients can usually return to work the same day and should experience little or no discomfort.
